Anika Rose Moa (born May 21, 1980 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand guitarist , singer and songwriter .

Life

Anika Rose Moa was born on May 21, 1980 in Auckland, but spent her childhood in Christchurch , on the south island of the country, where she attended Hornby High School in the north-west of the city. She has three sons, two who were born in 2011 and were born to her partner at the time, the Australian Angela Fyfe (donor was Moa's brother), and one son, whom she raises together with her partner, the television journalist Natasha Utting . She entered into a registered partnership with Angela Fyfe in February 2010 . In 2013 she met Utting, whom she then married in February 2018. Moa lives and works in Auckland .

Musical career

Moa began writing songs when she was 13 and while she was still in school in 1998 she took part in the New Zealand music competition Smokefree Rockquest , where she was hailed as the Most Promising Female Musician . A short time later she was able to sign her first record deal with Atlantic Records .

In 2002 she won the New Zealand Music Awards for Best Female Vocalist and Songwriter in New Zealand and the award for Best Female Solo Artist in 2008 and 2010.

In Germany she is mainly known for the title Anchor Me on the Greenpeace single of the same name , which was released on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior .

Television appearances

In 2016 and 2017, Moa was on Māori Television's All Talk with Anika Moa series, a talk show that was broadcast in two series of multiple episodes.
