Anitas Livs is a Swedish women's band that belongs to the World Music genre.

Band history

The group was founded in 1987 by Anita Livstrand (born November 23, 1953 in Enskede , Stockholm ). Livstrand had played in various bands since the 1970s and also released a solo album ( Mötet ) in 1978 . The Anitas Livs formation initially consisted of Livstrand, Lise-Lotte Norelius and Marianne N'lemvo. In 1992 Monica Aslund replaced the eliminated N'lemvo, but left the group after recording two albums in 1999.

The group, which has since performed as a duo, has always done without guitars and keyboards, so that the music is predominantly characterized by percussion and partly folkloric singing ( joik ). The musicians also use sampling technology via digital percussion instruments . On the album Ugh! from 1993 the group has interpreted Bessie Smith's titles in this way. In the 1990s, Anitas Livs could also be seen in Germany on various occasions. Since 2001 the group has not made any significant appearances.
