Ann Prentice

Ann Prentice OBE (* 1952 ) is a British nutritionist .

Life

Prentice studied chemistry at Oxford University , then medical physics at Surrey University and natural sciences at Cambridge University .

Since 1978 she has worked for the Medical Research Council , both in Great Britain and in China and Gambia. In 1998 she became director of the MRC Collaborative Center for Nutritional Research (most recently called " Elsie Widdowson Laboratory ").

She was a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition in the United Kingdom and President of the UK Nutrition Society from 2004 to 2007.

Awards and honors

She holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Surrey and honorary professorships from the University of the Witwatersrand and Shenyang Medical College.
