The Anna-Katharinenstift Karthaus is a Catholic institution for the rehabilitation of adult people with mental , physical or emotional disabilities . It offers living space, workplaces and additional support .

Location and structures

The Anna-Katharinenstift Karthaus is located in the Weddern peasantry in the city of Dülmen in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Coesfeld . The buildings have their origins in the Marienburg Charterhouse, which was founded in 1476/77, and today, in addition to the parish church of St. Jakobus, include extensive residential, social and work buildings between fields, meadows and small forests.

History and sponsorship

The name of the institution is Anna Katharina Emmerick, who was beatified in 2004 by Pope John Paul II for her life and work .

The Anna-Katharinenstift Karthaus is sponsored by the Social Service of Catholic Women Gesamtverein e. V. (SkF). This emerged from the former Catholic Welfare Association for Girls, Women and Children (KFV), which in the person of Agnes Neuhaus founded the Anna-Katharinenstift in 1921 as a “shelter for morally endangered, neglected women and girls who have fallen into sexual immorality”. As a result, girls and women with disabilities were also taken in and cared for. Since 1989 men have also been admitted and looked after. Until the beginning of this century, the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus von Hiltrup from Münster-Hiltrup were entrusted with the management of the facility. Augustinian monks took care of pastoral care and spiritual support.
