Anna Angyal
Anna Angyal (born Anna Engel in Veszprém in 1848 ; died 1874 ) was a Hungarian writer.
Life
Anna Angyal attended the Jewish primary school in Veszprém and then the Jewish school in Hódmezővásárhely , where her father worked as a teacher, and learned French and German. At the age of sixteen she published the novella Egy magyar család kalandjai (Experiences of a Hungarian Family) in the magazine Szegedi Hiradó and the following year the novella Előítéletek (The Condemned) in the magazine Magyar Israelite . This was followed in 1868 by the novel Ilonka és Elemér .
Angyal took a job as governess, wrote some poems and prepared an autobiographical novel when her mother died and she was unbalanced. Angyal died in the autumn of 1874 at the age of less than 26.
