The Anna Göldi Museum ( original spelling ) is dedicated to the fate of the maid Anna Göldi , who was executed in Glarus in 1782 . It was opened on August 20, 2017 in Ennenda ( Canton Glarus , Switzerland).
Permanent exhibition
The story of Anna Göldi is presented in a historical and current context. Visitors are led from one themed island to the other: “ Witch Mania ”, “Network of Power”, “Enlightenment”, “Journalism”, “Culture of Remembrance”, “Rehabilitation”.
The centerpiece of the multimedia exhibition is the witch trial, which is well documented by the detailed torture protocols, and its main characters, the Tschudi family and whistleblower Johann Melchior Kubli , who leaked confidential documents to the German journalist Heinrich Ludewig Lehmann. All around there are thematic islands that deepen the historical material, namely «Network of Power», «Age of Enlightenment», «Glarus in the 18th Century», «Publications and Representations on the Witch Trial», «Rehabilitation» and «Human Rights in Today's Time» , a topical issue that is of great importance in the museum. The studbook of journalist Lehmann, which was discovered in Germany in 2006 by author and lawyer Walter Hauser , will be shown comprehensively for the first time . A few weeks after Anna Göldi's execution, all of the main actors in the witch trial were immortalized in it with their own handwriting.
