Anna Recker

Anna Recker (born October 3, 1949 in Bad Laer near Osnabrück) is a German-Luxembourg painter and draftsman.

Career

Anna Recker spent her childhood and school days in Hattingen an der Ruhr. From 1969 to 1971 she studied graphic design and free drawing at the Folkwang School for Design in Essen-Werden, and in 1971 moved to the State University of the Arts in Berlin, department of art education, but then studied painting, printmaking and sculpture. She completed her studies in 1977/78 as a master class student of Heinz Trökes.

In 1977 she was a lecturer at the Summer Academy in Luxembourg, taught Mathias Adam at the Lycée Technique in 1978/79 and founded a drawing school in Luxembourg in 1978. In 1982/83 she was a city draftsman in Nuremberg as part of a drawing grant from the Kunsthalle Nürnberg and Faber-Castell. In 1987 she moved to the Allgäu and came back to Luxembourg in 1988 to create the glass wall relief "Frozen Flow" 14 m × 6 m for the Center Financier. Other glass works by Anna Recker are in the Cité Judiciaire in Luxembourg and in the cemetery in Junglinster. In 1987 her synchronous optical theater was realized in the Théâtre d'Esch as part of the 2nd Festival de Musique Contemporaine Luxembourgeoise, LGNM. The musical director was Camille Kerger. In 2004 her performance Triangolo All 'Angelo was created with the musician and actress Sascha Ley and the dancers Annick Pütz, Anu Sistonen and Gianfranco Celestino in Espace Monterey in collaboration with the CAL and the BGL. In 2006/7 the performance Mouche / Dance on the compound eye followed in the Luxembourg Nature Museum.

In 2013 she received the Ennepe-Ruhr Art Prize and was invited to a workshop in Görlitz in 2014 with other artists from the Ruhr area, Upper Lusatia and Wroclaw in order to plan the German-Polish art project WASSERgleich ... WODAjest, which will take place in Görlitz and Zgorzelec in 2015 was seen. The next stop was the European Capital of Culture 2016 Breslau / Wrocław. In 2015 she was awarded the Kaiser Lothar Prize by the Association of Visual Artists from the Eifel and Ardennes in the Prüm Basilica.

Anna Recker has been freelance since 1981, lives and works in Luxembourg and the Ruhr area.
