Epitaph of Anna von Henneberg

Anna von Henneberg († around 1363) was the abbess of the Sonnefeld monastery .

Life

Anna came from the von Henneberg family . She came to the monastery in 1353 at a young age. She was called the second founder of the monastery ( secunda fundatrix ) because she helped the monastery to flourish. Her valuable dowry, which included vineyards in Nüdlingen and Nassach , contributed to this. She died at the age of about 18.

epitaph

One of the few stone monuments that have survived from the time of the monastery commemorates them. She is shown in a slightly curved pose as a nun. She stands on a lion, holding the breviary in her hands, with two coats of arms below. The way it was executed, the tomb indicates the Wolfskeelmeister .
