Anne Stella Fomumbod

Anne Stella Fomumbod (* around 1962 in Cameroon ) is a Cameroonian women's rights activist . She is the founder and executive director of the Interfaith Vision Foundation of Cameroon (IVFCam) and the driving force behind the widowhood metta charter, which has enabled significant advances in widow human rights in her country.

Life

In 1999 Fomumbod founded the Interfaith Vision Foundation of Cameroon (IVFCam). The organization was originally called Aid International Christian Women of Vision (AI-ChrisWOV), the name changed in January 2008 after an overseas volunteer- sponsored consultation and evaluation that highlighted the clear need to include all faiths.

The IVFCam concentrates its efforts on supporting disadvantaged people, especially women and children, especially young widows, orphans and people infected with HIV and AIDS. IVFCam is a not-for-profit, non-governmental charity and has worked with the United Nations Economic and Social Council since 2013 .

Fomumbod has worked with 53 village councils to promote women's rights and the inclusion of more women on local councils. She is perhaps best known for creating and maintaining government support for the metta charter on widowhood, a first in Cameroon that enables significant advancement in the area of ​​widow human rights.

  • 2013: Inclusion on the BBC's list of 100 women
  • 2017: Prize of the Cameroonian government for excellent work; presented by Governor Lafrique .
