Annette Polzer
Annette Polzer (* 1960 in Hagen , Westphalia) is a visual artist living in Berlin .
Live and act
Annette Polzer has lived and worked as an artist in Berlin since 1985.
In Donato Sartori, Padua , she deepened her knowledge of mask making during her studies. Since then she has developed and built masks and large masks for various independent theaters in Berlin. In addition to freelance work as an artist in a studio community, she teaches on topics such as mask making and make-up painting, and promotes young artists.
Annette Polzer's artistic works deal with light, perception, change and boundaries. She works in series and relies on reduction in order to depict what is essential from her point of view in terms of form and color. The artist provokes the viewer to question their own perception by seemingly dissolving lines at certain viewing angles and connecting them to an apparently diffuse color surface.
In spring 2013 her colleague, the visual artist Jutta Barth , founded the Berlin artist group connex_berlin . This group of artists includes the founder, Jürgen Kellig , Siegrid Müller-Holtz and Annette Polzer. With painting, drawing, photography, assemblage and objects, the works of the group in the joint exhibitions encompass a broad spectrum of contemporary abstract art.
