Anonymous codependents

Co-Dependents Anonymous ( English Co-Dependents Anonymous , CoDA ) is a twelve-step program for co-dependent people, or people who derive their self-esteem just from the relationship to other people. The program is based on the Alcoholics Anonymous Twelve Steps .

CoDA is financed by donations from its members. There are no membership fees or sponsors or funds from other institutions or bodies. External funds are rejected in order not to become financially dependent. The first meeting was on October 22, 1986 in Phoenix, Arizona.

The program

Anyone who wants to improve their relationship with other people can become a CoDA member. The aim is to get a healthy relationship with yourself and others and to make your own feelings independent of the opinion of others.

Co-addicts use CoDA to try to live their relationships with other people without coercion or stress. Those affected want to learn to take good care of themselves in order to deal appropriately with others.

An essential part of the program is the anonymity of the members, voluntary contact between those concerned is of course possible.
