Anoplius is a genus of the sawfly (Pompilidae). There are 10 species in Europe.
features
The species of the genus Anoplius are medium-sized wasps. The head and thorax have no clear dots, but are provided with upright, dark hair. The frontal plate ( clypeus ) is short and wide, more or less convex and is hairy close-fitting. The apical edge is truncated, or more or less concave. The labrum is partially or completely covered by the front plate. The mandibles are pointed and have two additional teeth. The metapostnotum is shorter than the metanotum . The propodeum is either clearly curved or slightly elongated and has inconspicuous microstructures. In females, the abdomen is stocky and wider than the thorax. The sixth tergum is conical and has numerous almost erect bristles at the tip. The claws have a small tooth ventrally. In the male, all claws are double-thorned (bifid). The wings are provided with a brown band at the apical edge, the wing mark ( pterostigma ) is usually small. The legs are thorny, the tarsal ridge is either well developed or inconspicuous.
Way of life
The brood is supplied with spiders from the families Agelenidae , Amaurobiidae , Atypidae , Clubionidae , Gnaphosidae , Heteropodidae , Liocranidae , Lycosidae , Oxyopidae , Pisauridae , Salticidae and Thomisidae .
