Matching transformer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A matching transformer is used to match the impedance of one electronic component (e.g. an antenna ) to the impedance of another (e.g. the transmitter ). It is also called impedance matching . If the frequency range ( bandwidth ) is relatively small, resonance transformers are preferred .

In antenna technology , this task is often performed by a balun .
