Attack in Diyarbakır 2016
The 2016 attack in Diyarbakir was committed on November 4, 2016 at around 8 a.m. local time near the police headquarters in the center of the city.
Eight people died and more than a hundred people were injured. A car bomb exploded in the center of the Kurdish city. Immediately after it became known, Prime Minister Yildirim blamed the attack on the PKK .
The Islamic State jihadist militia later claimed responsibility for the crime. The authenticity of this commitment is supported by the fact that IS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had called for attacks against Turkey the day before in an audio message.
Background and history
In the preceding year and a half, several attacks were carried out in Turkey by the Teyrêbazên Azadîya Kurdistan , the PKK and the “Islamic State”.
