Address check

The address verification is a special service of Deutsche Post , with a postal address will be verified and completed. All you have to do to check the address is fill in the back of the postal address check card standardized by the Post. The front is already printed with the central postal address for test cards and only needs to be franked. Since July 1, 2010, Deutsche Post has been obliged to levy sales tax on services. For this reason, the customer purchases address verification cards in a bundle of 10 at € 10 including sales tax for the service. The card is franked with € 0.60. The costs for the individual address check using an address check card are therefore 1.60 €. If several cards are posted together, the costs are reduced to € 1.00 per card and the postage for the entire posting.

The address check was introduced at the Deutsche Reichspost in March 1931 . In 1947 an address search service was set up. Address checks have been permitted interzonally since the end of 1947, and internationally since September 1948 .
