Abdul-Baha in Paris

The book Speeches in Paris ( English : Paris Talks ) is a collection of 52 speeches by Abdul-Baha , which he gave in Paris on his European tour from October 16 to December 1, 1911 . After his trip to Paris he visited London , where he also gave speeches . Abdul-Baha lived at 4 Avenue de Camões, which is right next to the Jardins du Trocadéro . His speeches were not limited to the people present in this house, but addressed everyone. He spoke in the houses of the Baha'i , in the headquarters of the Theosophical Society , at the Allianz Spiritualiste, in the church of Pastor Wagner and in the Foyer de l'Ame. He gave the talks in Persian and they were then translated into French by Laura Clifford Barney and her husband, the scholar Hippolyte Dreyfus-Barney . Sara Louisa Blomfield from London, her two daughters and her friend recorded the speeches and translated them into English at the request of Abdul-Baha . A German translation was published as early as 1914 under the title "Gospel of Love and Peace" and in 1921 under the title "Speeches by Abdul-Baha Abbas given in Paris in the autumn of 1911". Baha'ullah has expressly ordered that only the authentic scriptural word may be viewed as revelation. Although the book is held in high esteem among the faithful, the shorthand recorded, translated speeches are not considered a completely authentic part of the Revelation, especially since they were not always perfectly reproduced by its interpreter.
