Anta from Casaínhos

The Anta von Casaínhos (also called Monumento Megalítico de Casaínhos ) is located on the southern outskirts of Casaínhos , west of Fanhões , in the Loures district in the Lisbon district in the Estremadura in Portugal .

The Anta was examined in 1961 and classified as a national monument in 1977. The megalithic monument was erected in the middle of the Chalcolithic at a time when a rural culture in the tradition of the Late Neolithic was concentrated in the villages of Estremadura.

The Anta has a polygonal chamber of which only two original slabs of porous limestone have survived. The dolmen had a passage with a rare side niche.

In addition to bone fragments , an arrowhead and a small pearl necklace made of slate and limestone beads were found together with the ubiquitous ceramic fragments.
