Antagonism (physiology)
In physiology, antagonism is the opposite effect of functionally linked pairs of structures and active ingredients.
Examples
- Muscle antagonism is an example of opposing structural pairs in anatomy . This is an example of the antagonism of organs .
- The respective messenger substances of the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system should be mentioned as an example of opposing pairs of active substances . These are antagonistic subsystems, so-called opponents within an organ - namely the nervous system .
