Antebellum architecture ( "pre-war", from the Latin "ante" ( "before") and "bellum" ( "war")), the neo-classical style in the southern states of the USA called.

General

Typical representatives of the antebellum architecture are often plantation houses and villas, which have classic elements such as Doric columns and gable triangles.

The main era of the architectural style began around 1803 after the Louisiana Purchase and lasted until the start of the Civil War in 1861.
