Dough
In pasting , a doughy or paste-like mass is made from a mostly powdery solid by adding a liquid with constant kneading . The liquid is distributed in the powder and wets the individual particles. Due to the capillary forces , the moist mass is initially given a loose cohesion. In the case of organic substances , swelling and dissolving lead to the formation of a sticky liquid, which leads to the pasty consistency of the mass.
During the pasting process, the high shear forces in the kneaded material cause powder granules and even powder particles to be comminuted. Planetary mixers , paddle mixers and screw mixers are often used in industry to make dough .
