paste
A paste is a solid-liquid mixture ( suspension ) with a high solid content . Pastes are no longer flowable, but rather spreadable. The adjective pasty corresponds to the description viscous like a paste .
Pastes are for example
- an ointment- powder mixture and in particular a semi-solid dosage form with a high content of dispersed solids ("suspension ointment " with a solids content of 30 to 70%), for example Zinci pasta ( zinc ointment )
- Grinding paste for valves
- Glass paste, see Pâte de verre
- Metal pastes are used in the electrical industry to manufacture components
- easily spreadable luxury foods such as meat paste
- Thermal paste
- toothpaste
Pastes can be characterized by their solids content, viscosity or chemical composition.
