The German Anti-Doping Act of December 10, 2015 serves to combat the use of doping substances and doping methods in sport. It is intended to ensure health , fairness and equal opportunities for the athletes and promote the integrity of the sport .

The law prohibits the manufacture, sale or prescription of doping substances listed in Appendix I of the International Convention against Doping in Sport of October 19, 2005 ( Federal Law Gazette 2007 II pp. 354, 355 , as amended). Doping substances may not be used for the purpose of doping in sport ( § 2 ). Self-doping is also prohibited, ie the self-application of a doping substance without medical indication with the intention of gaining an advantage in a competition of organized sport ( § 3 ).

For enforcement purposes, the law contains criminal provisions and refers to the penal code . In addition, a warning is specified on the package insert for the preparations concerned: The use of the drug [ insert name of the drug] can lead to positive results in doping tests.
