Antigone Costanda

Antigone Costanda ( Arabic أنتيجون كوستاندا) is a former beauty queen and model . She was Miss World in 1954.

Life

Costanda has Greek and Egyptian roots and was elected Miss Egypt in 1953. She then took part in the Miss World 1954 election, which was held on October 18, 1954 in London . Antigone Costanda was able to prevail against 15 competitors and thus won the first and only title for Egypt . She replaced the French Denise Perrier as the title holder. The Egyptian did not appear in 1955 in London in the free choice of the Venezuelan Susana Duijm for Miss World 1955, because Egypt was in a dispute with Great Britain over the Suez Canal , which culminated in the Suez Crisis in 1956 . In later years, Antigone Costanda worked as a photo model and interior designer.
