Antiochis (phyle)
Antiochis ( Greek Ἀντιοχίς ) was the last of ten administrative regions ( Phylen ) into which Kleisthenes entered during his reforms at the end of the 6th century BC. BC divided the Attic peninsula . Of the three earlier zones of Attica, Antiochis included the Trittyen Alopeke (from the urban area), Pallene (from the inland) and Anaphlystos (from the coastal area).
The region included the Athenian Demos Alopeke ; Such diverse people as the statesman Aristheides , the Pericles opponent Thucydides (not to be confused with the historian) - but also the famous philosopher Socrates came from here . The traitor Menestratus grew up in the demos Amphitrope des Coast Trittys of Antiochis .
The phyle owes its name to the mythical eponym Antiochus , a son of Heracles and Meda .
