Antipodes Fracture Zone

The Antipodes Fracture Zone is an undersea transform fault in the South Pacific and Southern Ocean . It extends between 50 and 70 degrees south latitude and between 125 and 176 degrees west longitude.
The designation, recognized by the Advisory Committee for Undersea Features since 1997 , was made at the suggestion of the American oceanographer Steven C. Cande of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography . The transform fault is named after the neighboring island of Antipodes Island, which belongs to New Zealand .
