Antiquariat.de

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antiquariat.de , formerly prolibri.de , is an Internet sales portal for antiquarian books and ancillary areas such as graphics, autographs, works of art, postcards, sound carriers and sheet music, through which around 370 antiquarian bookshops offer their products. The portal differs from other antiquarian portals in that it is operated by antiquarians themselves who have merged to form the Internet Antiquarian Cooperative (GIAQ). The site was founded in March 2005 as prolibri.de and changed its name on March 1st, 2010 to antiquariat.de.

aims

The aim of the antiquarians involved was to create a sales opportunity in which the professional knowledge of antiquarians can flow. Admission criteria for retailers are intended to ensure that both the quality of customer service and the product description are upheld. The standards correspond to the customs of the industry in the description of goods even before the internet.

A business policy goal of the antiquariat.de involved was to keep the sales channel of their own goods in their hands with their own platform antiquariat.de and thus not to the economic calculations of external platform operators, such as B. ZVAB or AbeBooks , both owned by Amazon . Customers should also be able to come into direct contact with the antiquarians in a simple way and be encouraged to visit the shop. In order to increase the market share of the platform, many of the participating providers offer their books u. a. here earlier than elsewhere and / or cheaper.

The GIAQ pursues the strategy of countering central platforms with a decentralized network without the customer losing the efficiency of searching for goods. In order to give the antique dealers more space for individual presentation of the antique shop, antiquariat.de provides homepages with a shop system, which can also be integrated into a dealer network operated by antiquariat.de.

Since spring 2008 antiquariat.de has been sponsoring the antiquarian fairs in Frankfurt and Leipzig and since 2010 it has been offering its participants the opportunity to offer special antiquarian items in the annual "community catalog of antiquarians".
