The Anton-Heilingbrunner-Schule , also Staatliche Realschule Wasserburg , is a secondary school in Wasserburg am Inn . With six grades, 41 classes, 75 teachers and 1083 students, it is one of the largest secondary schools in Bavaria.
history
The school was founded in 1954, initially as a three-tier middle school for boys. The 76 students were taught first in the Catholic youth center, then, in the second year of existence, in the agricultural school next to the city slaughterhouse. In 1959 there was a changeover to the four-tier school type. Originally the city of Wasserburg was responsible for material expenses , in 1963 the district took over the sponsorship. In 1966 the district council decided to build a new school building on Landwehrstrasse. At the end of 1971, the current building was opened - with 350 students at the time. In 1972 the bust of the namesake Anton Heilingbrunner and the memorial plaque were unveiled. Heilingbrunner was appointed as a teacher in Wasserburg by Elector Maximilian in 1803. With the school year 1979/80 girls were also admitted to school. In 1979 it was decided to expand the building and build a gymnasium, and the pupils were also allowed to choose between three groups of elective subjects . In 1988 the first computer room was opened. Further expansion measures followed in 1995 and 2008.
