Anton Böhm (historian)

Anton Peter Böhm (* around 1785, † around 1870) was a German-Bohemian priest and historian. He wrote a detailed chronicle of St. Joachimsthal and its mining .

Life

After studying Catholic theology and history, he worked as a chaplain in Joachimsthal and from 1815 until his retirement in 1860 as pastor and dean of the mining town. His chronicle of St. Joachimsthal from 1515 to 1835 , which was printed in 2004 in Kempten (Allgäu), is historically significant .

The handwritten original comprises 664 pages in the format 23 × 36 cm and describes the surroundings, geology and development of Joachimsthal, the work of the first mining captains (1516–1545), important things from the Joachimsthal archives and mining from 1515 to 1835, a description of the five Churches and Population Development 1515-1860.

Of the enclosed maps, plans and sketches are particularly significant:

• the mine crack, deletion lines of the most excellent Joachimsthal passages with the most profitable tunnels in the mine,
• the city ​​map with registered churches, chapels and crosses ,
• and several hand-drawn and colored pictures of the coat of arms of Count Schlick, the first Joachimsthal coins and the coat of arms of the city of that time.
