Anton Schürkes

Johann Anton Schürkes , also called Anton Schürkes, (born September 20, 1878 in Etgenbusch near Erkelenz , † 1924 in Aachen-Burtscheid ) was a Catholic priest .

Life

Anton Schürkes came from a Catholic farming family, he was the eldest son of Heinrich Schürkes and Helena, born Endpohl. He had three brothers and a sister, Anna Schürkes .

He was ordained a priest in 1904 in Cologne Cathedral. In the same year he became the fourth chaplain to St. Dionysius and St. Liebfrauen in Krefeld . In 1918 he became the first pastor at St. Aloysius in Oberbruch.

Honors

  • In Oberbruch the street at the parish church was named Anton-Schürkes-Straße.
