Anton Weindl

Anton Weindl (born July 4, 1895 in Christkindl ; † December 12, 1966 in Rottenbach ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ), farmer and brickworks owner. He was a member of the Federal Council from 1945 to 1949 and a member of the Austrian National Council from 1949 to 1962 .

Life

Weindl attended elementary and community school and worked as a farmer. In 1940 he took over a farm and brickworks in Steyr. Weindl acted as district chairman of the Steyr farmers' union between 1934 and 1938 and was councilor of the Chamber of Agriculture for Upper Austria from 1934. Furthermore, from 1931 onwards he became a local councilor for the Christian Social Party in Steyr. After the National Socialists came to power in 1938, he was arrested for his political activities and only released after several weeks.

After the Second World War, Weindl was again district chairman of the Steyr Farmers' Union from 1945 to 1965 and district captain of the Steyr-Land district from May 6, 1945 to December 30, 1949. From 1948 he was also involved as a board member of the Upper Austrian Farmers' Union and as Vice President of the Chamber of Agriculture for Upper Austria, was a member of the supervisory board of the Upper Austrian Raiffeisen Central Bank from 1953 and chairman of the Steyr dairy farm from 1959. In addition, he held the position of a board member of the Steyr warehouse cooperative and from 1964 was a board member of the Schärdinger Dairy Association.

Weindl represented the ÖVP in the Federal Council between December 19, 1945 and November 5, 1949 and was then a member of the National Council from November 8, 1949 to December 14, 1962.

Private

Weindl was widowed and had one child.
