Antoninus Messala Vivianus

Flavius ​​Antoninus Messala Vivianus was a Roman patrician and consul in the mid-5th century.

Vivianus was Praefectus praetorio per Orientem from 459 to 460 and thus also Vir illustris . He was known to be an able administrator. In 463 Vivianus became consul; his consulate was not recognized in the western part of the empire.

An epigram mentions that Vivianus carried out construction work, probably in Constantinople . It is not known what kind of building it is.

Vivianus was the father of Paulus, consul in 512, and of Adamantius, city ​​prefect of Constantinople between 474 and 479.
