Antonio Mendez (conductor)

Antonio Méndez (* 1984 in Palma de Mallorca) is a Spanish conductor .

He began his musical training with violin and piano lessons. From 2002 he studied composition and conducting at the Real Conservatorio de Musica in Madrid. He won international attention with second prize at the Nikolai Maiko competition in Copenhagen. The jury was chaired by Lorin Maazel . Mendez has already conducted a number of well-known orchestras, such as the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berliner Symphoniker, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Wiener Symphoniker, the Tonkünstler Orchestra Lower Austria and the MDR Symphony Orchestra.
