Antonio Montagnana
Antonio Montagnana (* around 1700 in Venice or Veneto ; † after 1740) was an Italian opera singer ( bass ).
He is best known for his collaboration with George Frideric Handel , for whom he sang in London between 1731 and 1733 at the King's Theater in his operas. In 1730 he sang in Rome and in 1731 in Turin in operas by Nicola Porpora , who was his teacher.
After the two opera seasons with Handel, he moved to the rival Opera of the Nobility in 1733 , but returned to Handel for one season in 1737. In the 1740s he can be traced back to Madrid as a royal court musician .
