The Antoniter Museum is a cultural and historical museum founded in 1996 that is dedicated to the history and work of the Antoniter Order . It is located (like the Strigel Museum ) in the Antonierhaus in Memmingen in Upper Swabia in Bavaria .

History and collection

The museum deals with individual diseases (especially the ergot brandy that was previously treated here ), healing methods and medieval piety as well as the general history of the order, the history of the Memmingen branch and the economic basis of the order. Finds from the excavations illustrate the everyday life of the sick and the clergy in the Antonierhaus. Until 2011, the Antoniter Museum was headed by Joseph Kiermeier-Debre , who was replaced by Axel Lapp in November 2012 .
