from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Antoniterkloster Bamberg is a former monastery of the Antonites in Bamberg in Bavaria in the diocese of Bamberg .

history

There is no definite evidence of the existence of the monastery until 1481, but the monastery was mentioned in a document as early as 1454. Like many other church institutions in Franconia , the Antoniushaus in Bamberg fell victim to the Peasants' War of 1525. It was occupied and looted. The brothers fled to Isenheim . In 1548 it was demonstrably no longer in the possession of the order.

A small hospital and a chapel belonged to the monastery.
