Antonius Hogema

Father Antonius B. Hogema OSC (born June 13, 1917 in Amsterdam , † March 8, 2013 in Wuppertal ) was a Dutch theologian who mainly worked in Wuppertal. He was rector of a monastery and prior.

Life

Hogema spent most of his priesthood as a member of the Dutch Kreuzherren in Wuppertal. He was ordained a priest on August 10, 1944, Laurentius Day. He initially worked as a pastor in Rotterdam .

At the invitation of Cardinal Joseph Frings (1887–1978), the Kreuzherren came to Wuppertal in 1953. Hogema followed the call to Wuppertal in 1958 and worked as rector and prior in the rebuilt St. Ursula Monastery , which was attached to the Church of St. Suitbertus . In 1970 the change to the St. Laurentius Church took place . He then worked as pastor of the Laurentius Church and twelve years as city ​​dean of Elberfeld. In August 2009, Hogema celebrated its 65th anniversary as a priest.

Hogema spent his twilight years in the Paul-Hanisch-Haus and died in March 2013 at the age of 95. The burial takes place on March 16, 2013 on the grave field of the Lords of the Cross in the monastery cemetery of the Steinhaus monastery in Beyenburg .
