history

The Saas Chronicle reports the following:

In 1692 the chapel of St. Anthony of Padua listed as a long field and presented with beautiful altars afterwards. This house of God is the first in the current place, because the old prayer house is still nearby. The generous benefactors of this new building were Antoni Anthamatten, who would later become the founder of the prund, and his brothers and many others.
Who seeks miracles and wants signs,
He finds a lot at St. Antoni!

From 1982 to 1984 the chapel was professionally restored inside and out under the supervision of the cantonal monument preservation authorities.

The little prayer house below the chapel is the oldest preserved chapel in the Saas Valley , dating from 1619. From 1990 to 1991 it was completely renovated.
