Anyer

Anyer is a village in the Indonesian province of Jawa Barat on the island of Java on the Sunda Strait 15 kilometers south of Merak .
In 1885 Princess Wilhelmina had a lighthouse built here to commemorate the victims of the Krakatau volcano eruption two years earlier. It was the starting point of the 1000 kilometer long Grote Postweg , which was laid out in 1808 towards Panarukan in the east of Java.
Off the coast is the island of Pulau Sangiang , to which there are ship and boat connections. There are some coral reefs in the area.
