Anyte from Tegea
Anyte of Tegea was an ancient Greek poet. It came from Tegea in Arcadia and was probably around 300 BC. Active.
About 20 epigrams of Anyte have survived, but some cannot be assigned with certainty. Nevertheless, only by Sappho are more poems known than by her. She wrote grave inscriptions for humans and animals as well as poems about landscapes. In ancient times she was sometimes referred to as the "female homer ".
