Aonla is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
The city is part of the Bareilly District . Aonla has the status of Nagar Palika Parishad . The city is divided into 25 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had 55,629 inhabitants, of which 29,231 were men and 26,398 women. Muslims make up the majority of the city's population with a share of just over 50%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 57.31%.
