Apelles (Bible)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Apelles was an urban Roman Christian. He is mentioned in Rom 16,10  EU , where Paul of Tarsus calls him a “one who has been tried and tested in Christ”. With this formulation he is likely referred to as a missionary helper whom Paul could rely on in difficult situations. Peter Lampe , who examined the names in the Pauline list of greetings, counts Apelles among the people for whom immigration from the east of the empire is likely.
