The Codex Vaticanus 2061 ( Gregory-Aland No. 048; von Soden α 1) is a Greek manuscript of the New Testament , which is dated to the 5th century. It used to be called Codex Basilianus 100 , even earlier Codex Patriniensis 27 .

description

The manuscript includes almost the entire book of Acts , Catholic letters , Pauline letters on 21 parchment sheets (from the original 316). It has a format of 30 × 27 cm. The text is in three columns with 40–41 lines and 12–15 letters per line. The letters are just round and square. Spiritus asper , Spiritus lenis and accents seem to be missing. Euthalian apparatus are also missing.

The manuscript is a palimpsest that has been overwritten twice . The biblical text was first headed with homilies of John Chrysostom : in lotionem pedum; in sanctum Sabbatam; de proditone Iudae; in sanctum Thoma; in ascensionem. Once again it was overwritten with texts by Gregor von Nazianz .

The Greek text of the Codex represents the Alexandrian text type . It is assigned to category II . The manuscript is close to the Codex Alexandrinus .

history

At the end of the 17th century the manuscript was kept in the monastery of St. Mary of Patire near Rossano in Calabria .

The codex is kept in the Vatican Apostolic Library (Gr. 2061) in Rome .
