The apple from Grünheide is a historic apple variety from the Brandenburg town of Grünheide near Berlin . To revive the variety, the municipality wants to plant a total of 125 trees by 2020.
Variety characteristics
The apple from Grünheide is a very juicy variety with a balanced ratio of sugar and acid. The fruits can reach a considerable size and weigh 450 to 600 grams. The tree is alternating, but bears abundantly every two years. As a trellis tree, it can be placed very well on house walls and walls.
The autumn apple is ready to be picked in October.
