Apocrisy
An Apokrisiar ( Greek : one who delivers the answer ) is a representative of a monastery or a church dignitary. Nowadays, the apocrisy can best be compared to a nuncio , i.e. a permanent representative or ambassador on site (as opposed to a legate who acts as a special envoy for certain missions).
In the Middle Ages , apocrisisers were often employed in ruling houses as ecclesiastical representatives and advisers in (ecclesiastical) political affairs.
