Apologetic Centrale

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Apologetic Central was founded in 1921 by the Central Committee for the Inner Mission of the German Evangelical Church in Berlin. It should observe the activities of religious movements and inform the Protestant church public about them. Carl Gunther Schweitzer (1889–1965) was the director, and Walter Künneth since 1932 . The series Word and Action was published.

On December 10, 1937, it was closed by the Gestapo and its further activities were prohibited. In 1960 a successor organization was set up, the Evangelical Central Office for Weltanschauungsfragen in Stuttgart (since the 1990s in Berlin). The Walter Künneth Institute , founded in 1994, also wants to pursue the concerns of the Apologetic Central.
