Apostolos Georgiades ( Greek Απόστολος Γεωργιάδης Apostolos Georgiodis , born March 5, 1935 in Kalamata ) is a Greek lawyer who also worked in Germany.

Life

Apostolos Georgiades studied law in Athens and continued his postgraduate studies as a scholarship holder of the Greek state in Göttingen , Kiel and Munich . In 1962 he did his doctorate summa cum laude at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität with a thesis on the property rights in conditional purchases - the theory of real rights . With the support of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the German Research Foundation , he completed his habilitation in Munich with Karl Larenz with a thesis on the competition of claims in civil law and civil procedural law and was authorized to teach in the subjects of civil law , civil procedural law , international private law and comparative law . Geōrgiadēs taught at the law faculty of the University of Munich until the end of 1973. Then he was appointed to a chair in civil law at the law faculty of the University of Athens , where he worked until his retirement in 2002.

Act

In Greece, Apostolos Georgiades is considered to be one of the most important civil law teachers and private law dogmatists . For decades he has taught all subjects of civil law both at the University of Athens and (as a visiting professor) at other universities in the country. With his writings and books he has contributed to the interpretation and further development of Greek and European private law. After his retirement, he founded the law firm Apostolos Georgiades & Associates with colleagues .

  • 2002: Honorary Doctorate from the University of Thrace
  • 2005: Honorary Professor at the University of Athens
  • 2008: Honorary Doctorate from the University of Thessaloniki
  • 2014: Order of the "Grand Commandeur de l'ordre de l'honneur".
