Apoxyomenos
Apoxyomenos ( ancient Greek Ἀποξυόμενος ) refers to the statue of an athlete who wipes off dust and sweat from his skin with the help of a strigilis . Known are among others:
- Apoxyomenos des Lysipp : bronze statue by the sculptor Lysipp from the 2nd half of the 4th century BC BC, best known for a Roman marble copy in the Vatican Museums
- Apoxyomenos from Ephesus : bronze statue from Ephesus , today in the Ephesos Museum in Vienna
- Croatian Apoxyomenos : bronze statue, Hellenistic copy of a lost original by an unknown master in the Kvarner Palace in Mali Lošinj , Croatia
