The military diploma from AD 224

Appius Claudius Iulianus was a Roman politician and senator of the 3rd century AD.

Iulianus held the suffect consulate around 200/210 . After that, under Caracalla or (less likely) Elagabal , he became proconsul of the province of Africa . In 224 Iulianus held the ordinary consulate with Gaius Bruttius Crispinus ; this is evidenced by a military diploma dated January 7, 224. Probably around the year of his consulate he was also Praefectus urbi .

He was perhaps the father of Claudius Iulianus , who was a suffect consul .
