Apple Remote Desktop ( ARD ) is software from Apple for managing remote computers with the macOS operating system across computer networks .

ARD supports automation and inventory of several computers at the same time, as well as software distribution and logging of user behavior.

In contrast to the Secure Shell of macOS, ARD has a graphical user interface . The VNC of macOS is integrated in ARD and in version 3 it is supplemented by the possibility of preventing remote users from looking. ARD can be used to control all VNC (Virtual Network Computing) computers, including Windows , Linux and UNIX systems.

In contrast to the earlier box version, the software is sold for a fee via the Mac App Store, with this version you can manage an unlimited number of managed systems with any number of client computers, there is no fee per managed client computer. It relies on SQLite .
