Application-to-application

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Application-to-Application ( A2A ) is a collective term from the field of information technology that describes communication between software applications . In contrast to B2B , A2A refers to the communication relationships between applications within an organization, while B2B refers to the communication between different organizations. A2A is therefore a central term in enterprise application integration. A2A, i.e. communication between applications, is in contrast to communication between people, even if the people use software for communication, so for example an e-mail from person to person is not a case of A2A. Examples for A2A:

  • An internet shop is automatically supplied with current master data from a storage system overnight.
  • Personnel management software automatically queries an internal telephone book application for the office telephone number of the employee whose data record was called up for processing.
